This is how the 2019 Belgian Waffle Ride weekend would begin. With another SoCal breakfast favorite, the burrito. The brainchild of Brandt Furgerson, aka Uncle Tio, the 2nd annual Breakfast Burrito Ride (BBR) would take place on the cloud covered morning of May 3. Hosted by Canyon Bicycles USA, the BBR is a no-drop, all smiles coastal roll to the top of Torrey Pines and back. Just 35 miles in distance, the ride covers perhaps San Diego’s most popular strip of pavement. While not much dirt in sight (that will come on Sunday), the views and vibes through Carlsbad, Encinitas, Cardiff, Solana Beach and Del Mar can’t be beat.
With the 2019 Gravel Season coming soon, the Belgian Waffle Ride is one on the list for many riders. This unique event in Southern California brings some top riders locally and around the country for a classic road race with splash of gravel for good measure. 2019 Event registration opens Dec 1, for the 2019 BWR scheduled on May 5. Be sure to read our full recap of the 2018 BWR HERE.
Gravelstoke is a proud sponsor of the Inaugural Canyon Nate Harrison Gravel Challenge, a dirt time trial event that ascends the famous Nate Harrison Grade on Palomar Mountain.
The "Holy Grail", the cup that is said to have been used by Christ at the Last Supper, sought after by knights during the Middle Ages, and escaped from countless archeologists and scientists since then. There is an awakening before us, a new era in the sport of cycling. Two disciplines that have existed independently for decades, road and mountain, are disrupted by the emerging force of Gravel. In their search for the perfect tool for this new day, Canyon Bicycles has said to have found that Grail.
