We loved the Roval CLX gravel wheels when they originally launched in 2019. As we traversed the gravel roads around Downieville on a set of CLX EVOs, it was clear that Roval was up to something good (see the story here). Today marks the next step for Roval as they’ve managed to bring their gravel wheels down to a more affordable price point. From a broad consumer perspective, the all-new Terra CL should be a very attractive option with much of the same performance at less than half the price. The Terra C is also introduced today, a very attainable wheelset for those looking to upgrade to a carbon wheelset for just $1000. The Roval gravel family is complete with the new Terra bar, a carbon handlebar with 12 degrees of flare.

Terra CL

The new Terra CL utilizes the same exact rim as the flagship Terra CLX model at under half the price. Constructed with a 33mm deep rim with 25mm inner width, Terra CL utilizes a hooked bead and comes taped and tubeless-ready. Terra wheels can handle tires 28 to 47c. The wheels feature DT Swiss 350 hubs laced with DT Swiss Competition Straightpull spokes.

Terra C

Not settling with the CL, Roval took things one step further towards affordability with the Terra C. Sharing the same hub and spoke architecture as the Terra CL, but paired with an entirely new rim layup. The rims on the Terra C are crafted using Resin Transfer Molding. Matching the internal and external spec of both the Terra CLX and CL, with only a slight weight penalty coming in at just over 1600 grams. The new Terra C looks to be a great option for those looking to upgrade from an alloy wheelset without spending your entire stimulus check.

Terra Handlebar

The new Roval Terra handlebar rounds out the Terra gravel lineup promising comfort and durability. Roval explained to us that the new Terra handlebar utilizes an optimized blend of carbon fiber and a design that takes into account the physiological demands placed on hands and arms in mixed-terrain riding. The bar tops are an ergonomic “egg” shape with a shallow drop and short reach to optimize comfort and control when riding in the drops, and a 12-degree flare starts in the drops and opens up the ends of the bars for clean control alignment and optimal all-terrain comfort. Integrated internal Di2 routing adds a clean finish to this promising-looking equipment.
