The 9th Annual Great Western Reroute - Saturday, May 16, 2026

The Great Western Reroute (GWR) returns in 2026 for its another epic edition of this growing southern California classic that all started in 2018. What started as a creative reimagining of the historic Great Western Loop has evolved into East County San Diego's premier gravel adventure, taking cyclists deep into the rugged beauty of the Cleveland National Forest. For 2026, we're working on an entirely new course that weaves together some of your favorite segments from past editions, while introducing a few new dirt roads to challenge riders like never before. The full course will feature around 8,000 feet of elevation gain across a diverse mix of gravel roads, pavement, and exhilarating singletrack.

The 2025 GWR promises to be an unforgettable celebration of gravel cycling in Southern California's stunning backcountry. Registration will open on Feb 1 on BikeReg.
