Snek's New Bags Keep It Tight
Snēk Cycling is back on our radar with the launch of new frame bags and bag accessories. Snēk (pronounced sneak) has a strong history of crafting high quality, well designed gear, so when we heard they were turning that attention to frame bags, we were excited to see what they came up with. The result is the new Inline Frame Bag collection: storage built to tuck neatly into your front triangle, keeping tools, nutrition, and essentials close at hand without adding drag or blocking bottle access. The lineup includes three sizes:
INLINE SPRINT (1.1L, 155g), $60: compact and low profile
INLINE MEDIUM (2L, 242g), $80: fits 50-56cm frames
INLINE LARGE (2.5L, 276g), $80: fits 56-60cm+ frames
Each bag is built from durable 500D Cordura with a YKK waterproof zipper, a padded internal phone pocket, multiple tool compartments, and grippy Hypalon panels that lock the bag in place and protect your frame finish.
We caught up with Snēk's founder Jonny Hintze to get some insight into his thinking behind the new collection. Here were our top 3 questions answered:
What was the design problem you were actually trying to solve with the Inline collection, versus what's already out there?
I wanted to address some of the usability issues I’ve found with other bags, namely the lack of external storage and the limited flexibility of internal storage.
My design provides external pockets for quick-grab items like nutrition, along with an open, undivided internal compartment with a padded slot to protect a phone and additional side pockets. Accommodating 4-way stretch pockets on the non-drive side and packcloth pockets on the drive side provide flexible storage for a wide range of tools, clothing, and other gear.
There are also some nice details, like an internal key clip, rattle-free zipper pulls, and a lightweight but stiff foam structure that makes one-handed zipper use easier.
Why 500D Cordura and Hypalon specifically?
500D Cordura is known for its enhanced abrasion resistance and tear strength, with a great strength-to-weight ratio. It’s long-lasting durability and water repellency, make it a great fabric for designed for extended use and long miles.
Hypalon is a type of rubber most commonly used in inflatable boats, commercial marine gear, and harsh outdoor covers because of its unmatched lifespan and extreme resistance to tearing, chemicals, and environmental breakdown. It has a mildly soft, tacky feel, making it a great material for areas that contact the frame. This provides a soft, secure connection between the bag and the bicycle frame.
Any details in the design that most people will miss but you're proud of?
Balancing form and function is important to me. Coming from a graphic design background, aesthetics have always mattered, but never at the expense of functionality. The new bags strike that balance of blending seamlessly with the bicycle frame while incorporating practical features and thoughtful design details. Subtle external pattern lines add visual interest and character without compromising performance.
