Velocio Concept Radiator Jersey Review

110F is hot! Temps like these have been more the norm this summer especially inland around Southern California. Other regions of the West are similarly parched with record highs and thirsty conditions. Long days in the heat can call for some special gear, not excluding a hydration pack or more than just 2 bottles. I looked to Velocio and their new Concept Radiator Jersey to see how it stacks up for scorching rides on and off-road.

According to Velocio, the CONCEPT Collection blends “aero patterning, moisture management, riding comfort and unrivaled performance”. Ultimately the team at Velocio looked to innovative new fabrics from their partners at Polartec to come up with functional pieces that perform in the most challenging of conditions. New to the collection for Summer 2022 is the Radiator, and what they are calling their most advanced, highest performing jersey yet. I’m a big fan of what Velocio can do with Polartec fabrics, as one of my favorite pieces recently has been the Delta Long Sleeve for style, comfort, and durability.

The Concept Radiator jersey is definitely impressive, as it should be at a price of $199. For this jersey, Velocio borrowed the Delta fabric from its long and short-sleeve cousins in the TRAIL collection for a completely new look. On my recent ride that reached triple-digit temps, the Radiator Jersey did an excellent job at actively cooling with movement. According to Velocio, this comes from a process where the jersey absorbs sweat and then more easily evaporates moisture than other jerseys available today. The result definitely works, as I never felt overheated despite the challenging conditions. I also really liked the Delta fabric for this style of jersey, it’s comfortable on the skin and has the perfect amount of stretch.

In addition to the White version I have here, the Radiator also comes in Mango, Sky, and Navy. All jerseys share the same Navy colored “stability pockets” panel that are made from a more durable fabric that wraps around the front for added cargo support. Overall I’m really happy with the intentional design and performance offered by the new Concept Radiator Jersey, and it will be a go-to piece for some upcoming long rides I have planned where hot temps are a factor.

Here were a few additional photos from the test ride in the hills between Elfin Forest and San Marcos, California. My Wahoo Roam showed a temp reading at 109 here, just before it hit 110 on the descent. For more information and pricing on this jersey for Men and Women, I’ve dropped some links below.
