Film: Forgotten Roads Episode 1 - Big Sur

Forgotten Roads is a self-supported and self-filmed 3 part series documenting gravel rides in Southern California. We hope to inspire you to get out and explore the world by bike. Thanks to Hammerhead for supporting this series and making navigating these new routes a breeze.

In the first episode Alex and I head up the coast to Big Sur after learning one of the more popular camping and recreation areas has been closed to cars for almost a year. After a fire devastated the area and later on a heavy storm compounded the area's problems, the only sealed road up to the ridge, Naciemento Ferguson Rd., was forced to close for repairs. Our loop had us coming up a long, steep and dusty dirt climb before riding across the ridgeline and finally descending to the ocean down Naciemento Fergusson at sunset. We threw in a few side missions along the way for good measure. You can take a look at the route on Strava below.
