Every BWR San Diego Wafer Course Since 2015

It’s springtime now, and for many riders in San Diego and beyond that means putting in big miles for the upcoming Belgian Waffle Ride (BWR). A classic in its own right, SoCal’s most notorious mixed surface event enters its 9th year running in San Diego after taking a COVID hiatus in 2020. Alongside the Waffle is perhaps its lesser-known sibling, the Wafer. At roughly 70 miles in length with over 5000 feet of climbing, the Wafer Ride is no small undertaking and always draws its own field of talented riders. In fact, we often think of the Wafer as one of the most underrated gravel events in the country, with a higher percentage of dirt, singletrack, and gravel than the Waffle. The Wafer was first introduced in 2015, and if BWR San Diego goes off successfully in 2021, it will mark its 6th year running.

To further inspire your spring training rides and pay homage to one of our favorite events, we compiled all BWR Wafer routes since the inaugural Wafer in 2015. All routes start and end at The Lost Abbey San Marcos [155 Mata Way #104, San Marcos, CA 92069]. One quick note on the 2015 Wafer course, due to heavy rains just prior to the event, riders were rerouted onto Camino Del Sur and Carmel Valley Road at mile 19 to avoid a muddy Lusardi section. Rather than post the actual route taken by riders that day, we opted to share the original Wafer route as it was intended. Enjoy!
