2019 EVENT FAQS

Is lunch included in my registration?

Yes! We will be having an awesome Taco Bar set up by a local Mexican taqueria for our participants to enjoy all the tacos they can eat.

Are beverages included in my registration?

Yes! Rouleur Brewing Company will be on-site serving beer to all participants ages 21 and older.

What about nutrition?

We are excited to have GU Energy on hand at the start of the ride and at our aid station. Riders can expect to fill up their water bottle with their Roctane Drink Mix and stock up on Energy Gels.

What bike should I ride?

We highly recommend a cross or gravel bike for the event, with clearance for at least 35mm tires. From our experience, 37-47mm tires are ideal for North County gravel. Those with skill and fitness can certainly get away with more or less.

Do I get a t-shirt?

Nope, we have something else in mind to give each participant this year. If you do really want that Hunt of the North t-shirt you can already get your hands on one here, available in men's and women's styles.

Can you explain the categories again?

Sure thing! For the 2019 Hunt of the North we have created three all new categories, ENDURANCE, CROSS and ROAD PLUS. Equipment choices are yours to make, these names do not represent recommendations or requirements for bikes or tires. You can find our equipment recommendations here.

What these categories do represent are three styles that we feel best represent the type of rider that may select each one. Along with the locations provided in advance of the HUNT, we will be sending out a unique suggested route to each category as follows:

ENDURANCE: 60 miles, 6000 ft
CROSS: 50 miles, 5000 ft
ROAD PLUS: 40 miles, 4000 ft

If you plan to take a suggested route rather than create your own, we suggest selecting the category corresponding to the course you would like to complete in the 4.5 hours of HUNTing time allowed. Riders must return to CANYON Bicycles USA by 12:30PM to be eligible to receive their raffle ticket if all 5 rocks are collected.
